Project Background: Upgrading from Crude Oil Processing to Edible Oil Production

An established edible oil processor in Nigeria sought to expand his business by moving up the value chain—transitioning from selling crude oils to producing high-purity, market-ready refined edible oils.

Processing both crude palm kernel oil and crude soybean oil required a versatile refining setup capable of handling distinct raw material characteristics without huge capital expenditure. Additionally, due to previous industry challenges with overseas suppliers, the client needed verified manufacturing capabilities and guaranteed on-site technical support in Africa.

Through initial consultations in January 2025, Henan Glory's engineering team demonstrated proof of expertise with case studies of similar capacity projects and highlighted its established local branch and warehouse in Ogun State, Nigeria. Reassured by the comprehensive technical scheme and local service presence, the client officially signed the contract on March 24, 2025.

Technical Solution: Why a 5TPD Batch Refinery with Thermal Oil Heating?

To address the customer's specific multi-feedstock and capacity requirements, Henan Glory designed a customized 5TPD Batch Type Edible Oil Refinery featuring a Thermal Oil Heating System.

Multi-Feedstock Versatility: Crude palm kernel oil and soybean oil have contrasting chemical compositions; crude palm kernel oil requires precise temperature control during deodorization due to volatile fatty acids, while soybean oil demands rigorous degumming to remove complex phospholipids. A batch refining system allows complete control over each cycle, enabling seamless switching between feedstocks with tailored operating parameters.

Thermal Oil Heating Efficiency: Compared to basic electric heating, thermal oil heating ensures rapid, uniform, and continuous heat transfer—critical for stable deacidification and high-vacuum deodorization at 5 TPD capacity.

Compact & Cost-Effective: The batch configuration significantly reduces initial footprint and energy consumption, offering an optimal ROI for small-to-medium oil refining enterprises.

Turnkey Execution: On-Site Engineering, Commissioning & Operator Empowerment

Following equipment delivery in July 2025, Henan Glory dispatched senior installation engineers to the client’s facility in Nigeria on March 19, 2026, delivering full turnkey execution:

Precision Installation & Integration: Engineers led local crews through equipment positioning, high-vacuum system alignment, thermal oil pipeline connections, and auxiliary utility integration.

Process Fine-Tuning & Trial Runs: Rigorous testing was conducted using both crude palm kernel oil and soybean oil. Process engineers optimized parameters—adjusting dosing ratios for degumming/deacidification, bleaching earth quantities — set at 2.5% for soybean oil and 3–4% for palm kernel oil, adjusted based on each batch’s post-bleaching color result — and deodorization vacuum levels to guarantee final oil clarity and color, and taste.

Comprehensive Local Worker Training: To ensure long-term operational autonomy, Henan Glory engineers provided hands-on training to local operators covering daily equipment operation, safety protocols, preventive maintenance, and quality control routines.

Project Result

On July 31, 2026, the 5TPD edible oil refinery project was successfully commissioned and officially put into commercial operation.

The plant now consistently produces high-grade refined palm kernel oil and refined soybean oil that meet local market standards, enabling the client to capture higher profit margins.
